Aristotle University of Thessaloniki organizes a summer school at the summer camp of Kalandra, Halkidiki, a beautiful and secure place next to the sea, which offers a warm and welcoming environment and a unique experience of nature and culture, as it is situated near Thessaloniki, Dion, Mount Athos and Stageira, the birthplace of Aristotle.
The two-week course in August 19-30, 2013, is designed for participants from all backgrounds, those who are already well-read in and those who are just starting out, with the purpose of getting them acquainted with studies in the fields of Greek Philosophy, Greek History and Archaeology, Ancient Drama, Environmental Studies – Ecology, Ancient Technologies, Architecture and Mythology.
The lively exchanges of views and the summer camp experience make this brief, intense period of study, an extraordinarily and enriching experience. Each weekday will consist of five hours of teaching in the morning, by distinguished speakers, largely from within the University, followed by general lectures as well as cultural activities and a Greek language course (1h.30/day) in the afternoon. On the weekends, there will be organized tourist and cul- tural visits to the beautiful beaches of Halkidiki and places of cultural interest, such as Ancient Stageira or Dion, all of which are designed to make students familiar with Greek culture and History.
